Stronger In Numbers: 4 Reasons To Heal w/ Other Victims
Domestic abuse is a tragedy many experience. There are millions of victims, more and more bringing their stories to light and needing the support to overcome this past trauma. The path to heal from this pain is difficult, but not one you have to walk alone. Here are five reasons to heal alongside others:
Share your knowledge
Whether they are experiencing it now, currently overcoming it, or have already healed from it, you can learn from the experiences of others. Everyone will have unique situations, resources, and solutions which give you more ways conquer the obstacles you’re facing.
Support Systems
Support is essential. Having systems in place with people you trust and connect with will help you during this transition. This journey will be tough and no matter what place you are in, you should have those people ready to answer your call. They will be your glue during this time, keeping you from falling apart and helping you stick to the growth you’re enduring.
Understanding
Those who have been in your shoes have the best understanding of who you are and what you are going through. When it comes to healing from abuse, you want those who have been in your shoes to give you the advice and resources you need. Taking the wrong advice from the wrong people will only do more harm when you are at your most vulnerable.
Accountability Partners
Healing requires consistency and action. Use new relationships to hold one another accountable to this path of healing. When you are committing for the betterment of not only yourself but others, you will be more inclined to complete it.
Use community as an opportunity to grow together. You are stronger together and far from alone. Connect with other victims and learn to grow together. Only give and offer support to others and they’ll offer you the same. In doing so, you will gain greater knowledge, support, and relationships with one another. Let’s heal together.
